Want to make it in the music industry?

At Ealing Hammersmith & West London College you can get one step closer with Grade 9 Records. Founded by musician and music lecturer Ray XVX Holroyd, non profit record label Grade 9 records gives students the opportunity to work in a professional music environment, whilst studying for a recognised qualification.

The College aims to recreate the old “development deals” that labels once offered young artists who had the raw talent but needed to gain knowledge, skills and experience before being launched into the music industry.

Ray Holroyd & lead singer of Quicksotic Tom Esteves

“Grade 9 Records has given me the experience and knowledge of what is required to get into the music industry. It has given me the experience of what professional bands go through when releasing CDs and recording music videos, whilst also helping me achieve Grade 8 music – essential to get into university and not usually offered by colleges.”

Jason: Quicksotic / Dogs from Mars

“Because Grade 8 music theory has been added to our course, I now have good theoretical knowledge which I can apply to my own compositions. We have recorded our songs at Metropolis and be performed them at the Grade 9 Records label launch at Barfly in Camden - without Grade 9 Records I would never had these opportunities and be no closer to breaking into the music industry."
