Fees indicated are based on the current year (August 2016 to July 2017) and are subject to change next year.
Our further education courses (Entry to Level 3) are usually free if you are 16-18 years old. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support to help with other costs associated with your course such as course materials and travel.
If you are aged 19 or over you may be required to pay fees.
If you are enrolling onto a Level 3 or 4 course and are over 19 years of age the fees may be higher and you will be required to take out an Advanced Learning Loan, please see the guide to fees for more information.
International students will be required to pay the full International course fee.

CompTIA A+ is an internationally recognised, introductory technology certification that covers hardware and operating systems, security and environmental issues. It is developed in collaboration with major IT organisations to ensure it assesses the skills the IT industry is looking for.
This course is for anyone who wants to learn more about the computer technology and certify their knowledge on computer systems, operating systems and networking.
A+ certification validates foundation-level knowledge and skills necessary for a career in IT support. It is the starting point for a career. The international, vendor-neutral certification proves competence in areas such as installation, preventative maintenance, networking, security and troubleshooting.
Literacy level 2 minimum. At least a relevant qualification at Level 2 or industry experience . If not, your prior knowledge will be checked at interview.
In class assessments and portfolios. Formal exam. In order to receive the CompTIA A+ certification, you must pass two external exams.
CompTIA A+ 220-901 covers the fundamentals of computer technology, installation and configuration of PCs, laptops and related hardware, and basic networking.
CompTIA A+ 220-902 covers the skills required to install and configure PC operating systems, as well as configuring common features (e.g. network connectivity and email) for mobile operating systems Android and Apple iOS.
CompTIA A+ gives individuals the ability to grow their careers in a certain area. CompTIA A+ gives individuals the ability to grow their careers and related job roles include:
- Enterprise Technician;
- IT Administrator;
- Field Service Technician;
- Help Desk Technician;
- Depot Technician. Or you can progress to an HND or Access to HE if you wish to pursue a degree related course. (subject to other entry criteria).
In class and independent study, 3 hours a week part-time.
