Fee Information

Fees indicated are based on the current year (August 2016 to July 2017) and are subject to change next year.

Our further education courses (Entry to Level 3) are usually free if you are 16-18 years old. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support to help with other costs associated with your course such as course materials and travel.

If you are aged 19 or over you may be required to pay fees.

If you are enrolling onto a Level 3 or 4 course and are over 19 years of age the fees may be higher and you will be required to take out an Advanced Learning Loan, please see the guide to fees for more information.

International students will be required to pay the full International course fee.

Entry Level 3 will suit you if you are looking to enter the Hospitality industry. You have little or no previous knowledge or experience of the industry, but are keen to start your career.

You'll cover elements including:

  • Customer service
    • Serving food and drink
    • Healthy eating
    • Using kitchen equipment
    • Basic food preparation
Entry Requirements

You will need to get a minimum of Entry 3 on the College initial online assessment for English and Maths.

Assessment Method

You will study the following units and complete both practical assessments and information sheets or assignments to demonstrate your understanding of the units.

You'll cover elements including:

  • Introduction to the Hospitality Industry
  • Customer Service in the Hospitality Industry
  • Essential Knife Skills for Catering Industry
  • Introduction to Meal Planning and Preparation
  • Food Service
  • Introduction to Healthy Foods
  • Food Safety in Catering

The Certificate in Introduction to the Hospitality Industry can help you find a job in a wide range of roles including:

  • Bar person
  • Catering
  • Chef
  • Cleaner
  • Concierge
  • Housekeeper
  • Kitchen assistant/Porter
  • Receptionist

Once you have completed the course you might want to move onto full Level 1 qualifications including the Traineeship.

Study Methods

You will attend college 1 day a week. You will learn in dedicated classrooms and in fully equipped industrial kitchens.
