Fee Information

Fees indicated are based on the current year (August 2016 to July 2017) and are subject to change next year.

Our further education courses (Entry to Level 3) are usually free if you are 16-18 years old. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support to help with other costs associated with your course such as course materials and travel.

If you are aged 19 or over you may be required to pay fees.

If you are enrolling onto a Level 3 or 4 course and are over 19 years of age the fees may be higher and you will be required to take out an Advanced Learning Loan, please see the guide to fees for more information.

International students will be required to pay the full International course fee.

The Vocational Pathway Hospitality & Catering course is designed to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes in preparation for paid employment within the hospitality and catering industry.

Students will be involved in a wide range of catering and hosting activities; including catering enterprises and hospitality events, working in collaboration with other courses and/or local agencies.

The course aims to assist students to develop the essential skills, experience and confidence required to work in Hospitality and Catering. Students will learn about food preparation and food service skills, health & safety procedures in the workplace and customer service skills.

The course offers the opportunity to undertake work experience placement within Hospitality & catering industry. Your academic studies will include Maths, English and ICT, which will be delivered according to learner’s assessed levels and abilities.

Vocational Pathway Hospitality and Catering course is designed to develop your employment skills for gaining work in the Hospitality and Catering industry. You will develop your work skills by being offering the opportunity to undertake work experience placement.

This one year course will also offer essential study skills and knowledge to students who aspire to further their education on a mainstream Hospitality and Catering course.

Your academic studies will include Maths and English with the aim of developing individual standards towards national Functional Skills qualifications.

Attending the Hospitality and Catering course will give you the chance to access the local and wider community, develop your social skills, promote healthy eating, boost self- confidence and provide the opportunity to gain relevant qualifications.

Entry Requirements

Initial interview You will be required to undertake enterprise activities and fundraising events as part of the Hospitality and Catering course. Work as part of a team and support others. Undertake specified work experience placement within the Hospitality and Catering industry.

Assessment Method

All students will compile a portfolio of evidence that will contain their completed written coursework, assignments, a mixture of photographs, video, witness statements and personal statements. The portfolios are internally assessed and verified prior to external verification by the awarding body. Most students will be entered for Functional Skills English and Maths live assessments at the level indicated during initial assessments and verified through continuous diagnostic assessments.

Progression Opportunities

During the programme all students will receive expert advice and guidance that will prepare them for working life. That preparation would include job searching, CV building, interview preparation skills, and application form filling. This course could also be a pathway onto a mainstream Hospitality and Catering programme, Supported Internship, or voluntary work.

Study Methods

All students will participate in small group sessions comprising no more than 10 students. The study methods include practical, theory and independent research, completed by students with appropriate support.
