If you are going to study on a higher education course at undergraduate level (including BA, BSc, BEd, Foundation degree, Cert HE, Dip.HE, HNC, HND or ITT) and you have a disability or learning difficulty such as dyslexia, you will need to apply to your local authority for Disabled Student Allowance (DSA) on form DSA1. (International Students are not eligible for DSA).

DSA is based on need for the provision of disability support and/or the purchase of specialist equipment which may assist you with your studies. ALS staff will be available to advise you and we may also be able to provide a diagnostic dyslexia assessment for enrolled students if required.

On completion of the technical needs assessment the college can provide the support you have been allocated. For more information visit: www.direct.gov.uk

To make sure that support is in place from the start of your course, it is important that you apply for DSA and let us know as soon as possible about your needs.

It is particularly important for you to contact us if you require support for interview or enrolment and you can do so by:

  • Calling the Learner Information Service on 020 8741 1688
  • Completing the application form and ticking the relevant box stating your needs
  • Emailing: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

You can also tell us about your support needs:
