We work closely with a number of local schools to offer students the chance to take part in vocational courses that they would not otherwise be able to access. For example, we run courses in subjects including: Hospitality & Catering, Information Technology (IT), Motor Vehicle, Hair & Beauty, Health & Social Care, Joinery, Literacy, Media, Numeracy, Business and Retail.
These courses can be accessed by a variety of student groups, including:
- High achievers who require further courses.
- Students who, for some reason, have been excluded or have not secured a place in year 11.
- Students with special needs.
The majority of our programmes are at Levels 1 and 2 and they mostly occupy four to five hours per week for a total of thirty-six weeks (one academic year).
Our courses aim to ensure that students make real progress towards their chosen career path. All students work in an adult environment, where they are encouraged to make the most of the opportunities available to them and to learn from their peers (of different ages and backgrounds) to achieve success.
