School Links - Our Programmes
The programmes available through the School Links division include specialised discrete provision, short courses and the LSC-funded Increased Flexibility Programme, which is detailed below:
Increased Flexibility Programme (IFP)
One of our main programmes is the Increased Flexibilty Programme (IFP), which was launched in 2002. Through this project, Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College works with schools in the London boroughs of Ealing and Hammersmith & Fulham to facilitate vocational courses on offer to the students.
After many years of success on this project, we are now working with our final (and largest) IFP-funded cohort. In addition, many schools are now making private arrangements with the College for groups of their students to study in vocational areas.
The aims of the project are to raise the attainment in national qualifications of participating students and:
- increase their skills and knowledge;
- improve social learning and development;
- increase retention in education and training after 16.
Unfortunately, IFP funding ends this year. From that point onwards, courses will have to be funded by schools. High-quality, well managed provision will ensure that schools continue to find the funding to allow students to make the most of the wealth of opportunities that exist.
