Commitment, hardwork and perseverance have paid off for 160 Higher Education students from Ealing, Hammersmith and West London’s College who graduated with a range of diplomas and qualifications in a ceremony at Kensington Olympia on Thursday. The graduates - from a wide range of backgrounds - were widely supported on the day by family and friends who had seen first hand the effort put in.
The day was particularly special for graduating student Farah Amghar who received the prestigious Ministry of Defence Outstanding Student Award from Andy Gillman, director of the Ministry of Defence’s Outreach programme. Clearly incredibly touched to be receiving the award, Farah said:
“I can’t express how honoured I am to be the recipient of this award and how grateful I am to the College for the help I’ve received from them.”

In his opening address to the graduates, Ealing, Hammersmith and West London’s College CEO Garry Phillips talked about the commitment and work of the graduates, while also acknowledging the great support they had received from College tutors and their parents. He also revealed some big news for Ealing, Hammersmith and West London’s College - they are now 3.5% above the national average when it comes to outcomes and achievement.
The graduates were also addressed by Martin McCourt, Chairman of the Learning Curve Group who talked about the unexpected twists and turns his career has taken and how graduates should take every opportunity. He then wished the graduates well, saying
“I wish all graduates every possible success and urge them to grab every opportunity that comes their way and have as much fun along the way as is humanly possible.”
