West London College Beauty Students attended the NHS Foundation Trust’s Diggory Festival for Innovation and Wellbeing in central London on Monday 15 October. The event was part of the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust London staff conference which celebrated the 70th anniversary of the NHS. The students provided head and shoulder massages and mini manicures to over 190 NHS staff throughout the day.
Denise Charles, Head of Curriculum for Service Industries, said: “It is important for our students to attend this type of event as it supports their learning journey and prepares them for working in the beauty industry.”
Geraldine Edmonds, Level 3 Beauty Student, said: “Participating in this event gave me the confidence to speak to clients and the opportunity to practice my massage routine at a live event. I really enjoyed it especially when I received great feedback from the attendees.”
Laura McGivney, Beauty Lecturer, said: “The event was very rewarding and taught the students a lot about interacting with clients and the importance of working efficiently to meet timings and provide treatments at industry standard.”
