Creative Media Level 3 students from Ealing Green College have made an incisive and entertaining TV show programme on the skills crisis in the construction industry entitled ‘Women In Construction’. The 13-minute video was commissioned by Ealing Council, who asked the college to create a short video aimed at children in Years 7-11, highlighting careers for women in construction.
Major construction companies such as Berkeley and Durkan took part, as well as careers advisers and women working in the construction industry and West London College’s Head of Construction and Motor Vehicle, Mandy Bahra.
Largely filmed in the college’s professional multi-camera TV Studio, and presented by student Joury Al Salman, the campaigning organisation ‘Women Into Construction’ contributed on both sides of the camera by helping to make the ‘building site’ set, as well as giving interviews.
Assistant Principal, Tracy Round-Turner, said: “West London College has a strong track record in construction and creative media and this project has been a delightful collaboration of the two.”
