It is with great sadness that we share the sad news that Dean Vaughan, our Assistant Principal: Adults and Higher Education, passed away on Friday 24 March 2023.
Dean spent over thirty years working in further education, with over 22 of these as a dedicated cornerstone of the West London College community. An inspirational leader, he began his career as a Health and Social Care teacher and assessor, progressing into management. In 2015, he became Assistant Principal at Hammersmith and Fulham College, before becoming the lead for adult education, based at Southall Community College.
His passion, care and guidance had an indelible positive impact on those he met, from the thousands of students he worked with, to his peers; to us, Dean was more than a colleague, he was a cherished friend.
Our lives are richer for having known Dean, and our thoughts are very much with his family at this sad time.
An electronic book of condolence has been set up to express messages and memories that can be shared with Dean’s family; if you are a former staff member or alum that would like to share a message, please email comms@wlc.ac.uk and we will add it to the book.
Confidential support can be accessed from Cruse Bereavement Support. Staff members can also access our Care First (details are available on the staff portal), and students can gain support from Student Services.
