Representatives from the Heathrow Employment and Skills Academy visited Southall Community College today, 25 April 2023, to tell students about the many careers on offer. From security, retail and hospitality to construction and engineering, cargo and logistics and aviation, limited, part-time jobs are available that would fit in with our students’ busy schedules now.
Full-time roles are suitable once our students complete their courses. Hema Thevendiraraj, Apprenticeship Senior Account Manager at West London College, was also on hand to give learners careers advice about moving on to an apprenticeship. Southall Community College is one of the three colleges which make up West London College, alongside Hammersmith & Fulham College and Ealing Green College.
Sarah is a Recruitment Services Officer for the Academy. She started out working for Heathrow as a security officer nine years ago. Sarah described how internal progression is one of the advantages of working at Heathrow. As an employee, there’s even the chance to shadow a role to see if you like it before applying!
Sarah said: “The Heathrow Employment and Skills Academy wants to help people into employment and to get excited about Heathrow, which is the busiest airport in the UK, as well as help and make a real difference in our local community.”
Southall Community College is on the Elizabeth Line just a few stops from Heathrow and there are plenty of buses for local residents to get to their shifts.
