West London College is supporting Learning Disability Week by encouraging students on a Supported Internship to dispel myths surrounding their disabilities. A group of interns from the Hammersmith Supported Internship made an insightful video highlighting their personal experience and resilience.
Working alongside Hammersmith & Fulham Council and Action on Disability, our Supported Internship programmes helps young people with learning difficulties reach their aspirational goals into paid employment.
Students work with teachers and employers to develop transferable skills, knowledge and attitudes, and is unique in its approach, as the whole programme is based at an employer’s location. Supported internships aim to encourage students into full-time paid employment, often with their internship employer.

Tafina Davidson, Supported Internship Lecturer said: “Our interns prove time and again that it is possible to achieve anything they set their minds to. Over the years I have seen amazing things that people would not have believed were possible, but it is!”
