Kate Wells, Women’s Recreation and Volunteering Office with Middlesex FA visited West London College yesterday, 27 June 2023, to offer a free 2-hour football taster session for women students.
Following the fantastic performance of the England squad The Lionesses in the Women’s Euros 2022 where England won, the FA has funded 7 jobs like Kate’s up and down the country to encourage women to play football to improve physical fitness and sound mental health.
The taster sessions will start up again next term in September and West London College plans to put together a women’s team to compete with others.
Sports and Exercise Science Lecturer, Alex Brennan, who first approached the FA to set up the training sessions for West London College’s female students said: “All female students are welcome to take part whether they are experienced football players or they have never kicked a ball before. We want everyone to have fun, get fit and hopefully start up a women’s team.”
