Universities Visit WLC for Higher Education Fairs

Our annual higher education fairs took place this week at Ealing Green College (26 September 2023) and Hammersmith and Fulham College (28 September 2023). Hundreds of eager students came to explore their options with over twenty higher education institutions from across the UK. There was also the opportunity to talk to apprenticeship providers.

Universities at the HE Fairs

Omar Mohamed is studying Applied Science Level 3 at Ealing Green College. He plans to study for a pharmacy degree, and to work for a large pharmaceutical company. Omar said: “Once I complete my Level 3 I am going to take a gap year and then go to university. The WLC HE fair is really helpful as there is so much information all under one roof. I don’t need to spend a lot of time and money visiting the universities myself to get the information I need.”

Alexandra Uche, who is studying Creative Media Production Technology Level 3, said: “I didn’t realise there were so many opportunities from moving to Wales to go to university, to studying for a degree in the evenings. There are also so many things I could choose from too, from Business to filmmaking to piloting an aircraft.”

Careers Advisor Jemima Wiredu, who organised the event, said: “Our HE fairs offer options to our students so that they can plan their progression. They are able to find out about open days and get advice on completing their UCAS applications, as well as applying for higher/degree apprenticeships.”

Work Experience Officer Lousie Scully said: “We want to help students build skills and confidence in talking to the university representatives to find out the information they need. We always advise them not only to find out what degree programmes are available, but also to ask about the modules within each course so that they can make informed decisions.”
