Isadora is originally from Brazil, she enrolled on a Public Services course at West London College in 2018 to work towards her career goals.

She is currently in the first year of a Level 3 Public Services Diploma at Hammersmith & Fulham College and is working towards getting the required qualifications to study Paramedic Science at university.

“I enjoy my time at college, I get to meet people with similar interests to me and the environment is welcoming, you feel part of the West London College community.

“Since joining West London College, I feel more confident in my abilities to cope with the theory and practical work, and the physical training aspects of my course. I have improved my time management and developed negotiation and leadership skills which help me get positive results in group work tasks.

“I find the careers workshops very helpful because I get to meet public services professionals and learn about the qualifications and experience required to pursue a career in the sector. After attending a session with the Metropolitan Police I felt motivated to apply for the special constable vacancy.

“My course is a great foundation for the career path I want to follow. The coaching we received during physical training and everything I’ve learnt so far helped me to have a clear idea of what is like to work in the sector and prepared me for the police constable assessment.

Isadora was successfully selected as a special constable and will be working alongside police in the local community. In future, she would like to pursue a career as a paramedic in the National Healthcare Service and use her experience to encourage more females and young people to study public services.
