Level 3 Childcare & Young People in the Workforce

Aspiring To Open A Children's Nursery

Before I started college I'd had my child and I wanted to study childcare but I had to wait for him to be at a certain age to start nursery. I looked around at colleges but I liked this one so I decided to come in and speak to the teachers. I was told about 24+ loans and it opened up a different horizon for me. I found out about the loans via my teacher, Lorna, she told us all about the options open to us if we wanted to move on to Level 3, you don't have to worry about anything, you just start paying the money back after you're earning £21,000.

It's a very simple process, literally, it took ten minutes to fill out the application form. You don't have to do anything, you just wait for a letter to arrive to tell you whether you've gotten a loan or not. Everyone who applied doing a Level 3 in my class got the loan, no one had an issue with it. You don't have to worry about taking out bank loans or getting yourself into any financial difficulties.

I think lots of people have put off education for so long, so this will give them that second chance to just get it done and not to worry about the financial stuff, because most people don't study if they're over a certain age and the financial stuff comes into play, especially when you have children, you put yourself on the back burner. But with a 24+ loan it opens the doors, it gives people the chance to develop and do something for themselves.

The course has made me more passionate about opening up a nursery. I have a greater sense of the people I would like to employ. It makes me really keen to carry on the path that I am on to achieve my long term goal, the teachers are fantastic, the resources are brilliant - anything you need, you can find it in the library, anything you need you can go to the teacher and ask them.
