A-Level Maths

ABOUT THIS COURSE

Knowledge of advanced mathematics is essential in a wide range of careers from the sciences to computing, business and finance.

Our A- Level Maths course develops techniques studied at GCSE to enable you to solve mathematical problems and to deepen your interest in the subject.

You will either study the 2-year linear A-Level programme alongside a level 3 vocational course, for example the BTEC Diploma or Extended Diploma in Applied Science or you will study the A Level Maths on its own if you are an adult learner. At the end of the first year you will sit internally assessed exams, and at the end of the second year will sit a public exam.

You will have a personal tutor who supports and guides you through the course and you will meet with your personal tutor for group meetings and personal 1-2-1 meetings on a regular basis.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need Maths GCSE Grade 6 (grade B) plus you must pass an entry test. You will also need to meet the entry requirements for your vocational course, so please do check what they are.

A satisfactory reference may be required.

ASSESSMENT METHOD

A-Level Maths is assessed by external examinations at the end of the second year. Throughout the course and at the end of the first year you will also be required to sit mock exams and internal assessments.

PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES

Upon successful completion of this two-year programme alongside other level 3 qualifications, students can progress onto a wide range of HE/ university courses, employment or an apprenticeship.
