Barbering Level 3

ABOUT THIS COURSE

The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Barbering is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills to an advanced level through a variety of techniques in the following units; the art of creatively cutting men's hair in a combined modern hairdressing, traditional barbering to master your skill and creativity, the intricate specialist work of cutting facial hair, the artistic skill of colouring, styling dress hair, the purpose behind maintaining personal health and wellbeing and how to provide effective consultation support for colleagues.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need:

- You must have experience in cutting hair
- A pleasant and friendly personality with good communication skills is essential
- A recognised or relevant Level 2 Barbering qualification
- Minimum of 2 years? experience working as a Barber
- English language and maths or equivalent Functional Skills Level 2 qualification in both English and maths

Learners without the above minimum qualifications in English and Maths will be required to take a trade test to demonstrate their skills prior to enrolment.

ASSESSMENT METHOD

To be awarded this qualification, learners must successfully achieve the following assessments:
- Externally set and internally marked graded practical assessments
- Externally set and marked examinations
- Externally set and internally marked graded synoptic assessment
- Portfolio of evidence
- Practical assessments undertaken on paying clients

PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES

You could study further by taking a specialist qualifications in:
- Level 4 Salon Management
- Specialist Hair and Scalp Services

You may wish to seek employment, career opportunities as an advanced hairdresser/senior barber exist in a variety of contexts, including:
- Commercial salons
- Independent/self-employed/mobile/home- based settings
- Product manufacturing and training
- Television, film, theatre and media
- Armed services
- HM prison service
- Cruise liners
- Hospitals/care

STUDY METHODS

Part time 3 full days of college

3 hours of Direct Self Study

This course is based on a mixture of practical lessons in our industry standard salons with some elements of theory which takes place in our dedicated classrooms.

FEES

If you will be aged 19 to 23 on 31 August in the year you begin your course and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, you may be eligible for fee remission to cover your course fees, depending on your circumstances. For more information on fee remission, please click here.
