Gateway Award in Computer Programming - Level 2

ABOUT THIS COURSE

This single unit qualification is designed for learners to learn about the principles of computer programming to understand how programming works. They will develop text-based programming skills to design and develop their own computer program.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Initial assessment.

No previous formal qualifications are required, but learners will need to have basic digital skills.

ASSESSMENT METHOD

Learners are required to produce a portfolio of evidence.

PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES

Study further by taking a Level 2 or 3 full time IT qualification.

Students who achieve this qualification and progress to higher level IT study could progress to a range of careers in the IT and Digital Industries, including:
- Software Development Technician
- Web Developer
- Application Developer
- Mobile App Developer
- Games Developer
- Software Developer
- Junior Application Support Analyst
- Programmer
- Assistant Programmer
- Automated Test Developer.

STUDY METHODS

On-site, in-class study.

Learners will be taught by an IT specialist lecturer, in PC suites equipped with all required software applications.

The classes will include both theory and practical work allowing learners to learn and develop a broad range of cybersecurity-related skills.
