Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools - Level 3

ABOUT THIS COURSE

This course will helo you gain the skills you need to work in schools. You will learn about children and young people’s development, safeguarding their welfare and communication.

An assessor will visit you at work and observe your interactions with children and staff. You will be asked about the way you approach your job and why, which will allow you to demonstrate the knowledge and understanding you have gained in class. You will also create a portfolio of your activities in your workplace.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need to be working or volunteering as a teaching assistant in a school.
Applicants will be required to attend an interview and complete a written English Skills Assessment Test at Level 3 and have already completed an NVQ Level 2.

You will have to produce proof of placement at enrolment.

ASSESSMENT METHOD

Part of the course will be assessed in the workplace. You will also need to produce a portfolio of evidence to show you have completed the performance criteria.

PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES

You will be able to move to a higher level qualification and it may help towards promotion in your employment.
You could continue your studies and progress to university if desired.
You could work as a qualified classroom assistant, supporting the teacher and helping children in a primary school.

STUDY METHODS

You will learn in dedicated classrooms, some will have access to computers for self-study, project work and class work. Other resources include access to learning materials in the Learning Centre.

Part time day: 3 hours per week and minimum 2 days working or volunteering in a primary school.

FEES

If you will be aged 19 to 23 on 31 August in the year you begin your course and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, you may be eligible for fee remission to cover your course fees, depending on your circumstances. For more information on fee remission, please click here.
