For students under 19
Our courses & apprenticeships are usually free if you are 18 or under on the 31st of August 2019. Some courses have additional fees for things like materials and travel, which you will need to pay at the start of your course. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support for these costs.
For students aged 19 or over
If you are aged 19 or over you may be required to pay fees. Some courses may be free, depending on your circumstances. Certain Level 3 & 4 courses require you to pay the fee in full or take out an Advanced Learning Loan to pay for your course. Please see our guide to fees for more information.
Students from outside the EU/EEA need to pay the full international fee for their course. Please note, West London College does not offer Tier 4 Visa Sponsorship for students to study in the United Kingdom.
This course is for you if you are planning a career in business. It will develop your knowledge, skills and understanding of many different aspects of the business world. You will study a wide range of subject areas such as The Business Environment, Business Resources, Introduction to Marketing, Business Accounting, Personal and Business Finance, Managing an Event, International Business, Principles of management, Business Decision Making etc.
All students will be placed on the 90 credit Diploma in year 1. Upon successful completion of year 1, students can progress to year 2 to gain the full Extended Diploma. The study programme will include study skills where you will complete modules such as Word and Excel to gain the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) qualification. You will also have the opportunity to take part in work experience for a week, which will enable you to develop your employability skills further.
4 GCSEs grade A* - C (including Maths & English); or Functional or Key Skills awards at Level 2; or BTEC Level 2 Diploma (minimum Merit grade achieved). Successful completion of internal assessment is also required.
International students need to have IELTS 5.5 or equivalent (min 5.0 in Reading and Writing). Good attendance and punctuality on previous courses either at the college or at a previous school or college.
Assessment is an integral part of the overall learning process and our student centred approach aims to promote and enhance creativity, analytical thinking, research skills and effective communication skills. You will be assessed through project work, written assignments, in class tests, presentations and observations.
From this course you could progress onto a Foundation or BA degree course at university. Alternatively, you may wish to study a Higher National Diploma in Business or Hospitality at the college or at a university. If you wish to go into employment, this course is a good basis from which to apply for an internship, Level 3 apprenticeship or entry job at a large company. Some students have also started their own businesses having completed a Level 3 Business course.
You will learn in dedicated classrooms using IT based equipment. You will also gain exposure to business organisations through external visits, guest speakers and attending business exhibitions. You will also have the opportunity to apply to take part in additional enrichment programmes such as Young Enterprise.
The College offers tutorial and welfare services to provide support and guidance whenever it is needed. The Colleges Learning Resource Centre provides excellent facilities for private study and includes access to computers, an extensive library and quiet study areas.
