Fees indicated are based on the current year (August 2016 to July 2017) and are subject to change next year.
Our further education courses (Entry to Level 3) are usually free if you are 16-18 years old. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support to help with other costs associated with your course such as course materials and travel.
If you are aged 19 or over you may be required to pay fees.
If you are enrolling onto a Level 3 or 4 course and are over 19 years of age the fees may be higher and you will be required to take out an Advanced Learning Loan, please see the guide to fees for more information.

This is an exciting course that has been developed for first line managers and supervisors who have responsibility for a well-defined area of activity. This qualification is aimed at giving junior managers the communication and motivational skills that would enhance their operational efficiency.
The CMI- First Line Management has 3 levels such as Award, Certificate or Diploma Level and you can study the course at any level.
Our Level 3 Diploma in First Line Management has a more comprehensive structure which will provide you with all the necessary skills and competencies to become an efficient first line manager. The course assignments will make you thorough with the management theories and models that will be applicable in a wide range of practical work scenarios. Upon completion of the course, you will be well developed in your workplace problem-solving skills. The course covers current practices concerning workplace supervision and management. This knowledge will allow you to competently manage workplace problems. Learners will need to complete the following 6 units to achieve this qualification:
- Personal Development as a First Line Manager,
- Resource planning,
- Meeting stakeholder needs,
- Managing and communicating information,
- Identifying development opportunities,
- Improving Team Performance. Also when you enrol on a CMI program with us, you will automatically become a member of the Chartered Management Institute. You will be given comprehensive access to all the resources from CMI online library to facilitate your studies.
Considerable experience as a team leader or similar role. Initial Assessment and Interview with a minimum of Level 1 in maths and English.
The course is assessed through time-constrained scenario-based assignments, with a mixture of in class assignment projects and presentations. Formative assessment will be provided by your tutor to improve the learners achievements. This includes providing formative feedback. On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the CMI Level 3 Diploma in First Line Management.
There are numerous progression opportunities available on successful completion of a Level 3 qualification in First Line Management. Progression to other qualifications at the next level (e.g. from Level 3 Certificate to Level 4 or 5 Certificate).
You will learn in dedicated classrooms using IT based equipment. You will have up to 3.5 hours of timetabled classes each week including one to one tutorial with your personal tutor, who will support and encourage you throughout the duration of the course. You will also gain exposure to business organisations through external visits, guest speakers and attending business exhibitions. The College offers tutorial and welfare services to provide support and guidance whenever it is needed. The Colleges Learning Resource Centre provides excellent facilities for private study and includes access to computers, an extensive library and quiet study areas.
Mode of attendance: once a week (day time). You will also have to complete some independent work.
