Fee Information

Fees indicated are based on the current year (August 2016 to July 2017) and are subject to change next year.

Our further education courses (Entry to Level 3) are usually free if you are 16-18 years old. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support to help with other costs associated with your course such as course materials and travel.

If you are aged 19 or over you may be required to pay fees.

If you are enrolling onto a Level 3 or 4 course and are over 19 years of age the fees may be higher and you will be required to take out an Advanced Learning Loan, please see the guide to fees for more information.

International students will be required to pay the full International course fee.

Entry Requirements

You must have a good command of spoken and written English at Level 2. A written entry test will be taken to assess your English. You need to provide proof of placement at enrolment.

Assessment Method

You will need to produce a portfolio of evidence to show that you have completed the performance criteria. This may include photos, written work, answers to questions and observation reports on your work with children.

Progression Opportunities

You may be able to move onto a level 3 qualification and if currently volunteering look for full time employment. You could continue your studies and gain additional qualifications at Level 3 and can progress to university if desired. You could work as a qualified classroom assistant supporting the teacher and helping children in a primary school.

Study Methods

You will learn in dedicated classrooms, some will have access to computers for self-study, project work and class work. Other resources include access to learning materials in the Learning Centre.

Part time day: 2.5 hours per week and minimum one day working or volunteering in a primary school.
