Fee Information

Fees indicated are based on the current year (August 2016 to July 2017) and are subject to change next year.

Our further education courses (Entry to Level 3) are usually free if you are 16-18 years old. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support to help with other costs associated with your course such as course materials and travel.

If you are aged 19 or over you may be required to pay fees.

If you are enrolling onto a Level 3 or 4 course and are over 19 years of age the fees may be higher and you will be required to take out an Advanced Learning Loan, please see the guide to fees for more information.

International students will be required to pay the full International course fee.

About this course

This course is for you if you come into contact with individuals with learning disabilities as part of your job. The course provides essential knowledge and skills to help you to support individuals with learning disabilities. You will need to be working, volunteering or be on practical placement as you will be observed as part of your assessment.

You will learn about the meaning of learning disabilities, support, legislation, communication and planning.

Entry Requirements

You should be able to write at least at a Level 1 standard as you will have to pass a written English assessment.

Assessment Method

You will be assessed using a range of methods including building a portfolio of evidence, observations and written assignments.

Progression Opportunities

You can progress to Level 3 Award and Certificate in Supporting individuals with learning disabilities or Level 2/Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.

Study Methods

You will attend class 1 hour per week and do 52 hours self study over the year.
