Fee Information

Fees indicated are based on the current year (August 2016 to July 2017) and are subject to change next year.

Our further education courses (Entry to Level 3) are usually free if you are 16-18 years old. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support to help with other costs associated with your course such as course materials and travel.

If you are aged 19 or over you may be required to pay fees.

If you are enrolling onto a Level 3 or 4 course and are over 19 years of age the fees may be higher and you will be required to take out an Advanced Learning Loan, please see the guide to fees for more information.

International students will be required to pay the full International course fee.

About this course

This course is designed for IT enthusiasts who wish to develop their IT skills in system maintenance. You can progress to higher levels if you wish. This qualification can open doors into employment.

Level 3 will suit you if you are ready to launch yourself in the world of professional system maintenance. This course is just right for you if you have completed a L2 course or have experience of PC maintenance. After successful completion of this course, you will have the opportunity to embark on a career involving system support, or even use the qualification to get into a degree programme, CISCO, Microsoft and Apple certifications.

CompTIA (The Computing Technology Industry Association) A+ certification (also known as CompTIA A Plus) is an international industry credential that validates the knowledge of computer service technicians and demonstrates their competency as a computer technician. The skills and knowledge measured by the CompTIA A+ exams are vendor neutral and are derived from an industry-wide and worldwide job task analysis, that covers numerous technologies and operating systems. In order to receive the CompTIA A+ certification, you must pass two exams; 220-901 and 220-902. For more information, visit

Entry Requirements

Literacy level L2 minimum. Have completed the L2 iTQ qualifications. If not, your prior knowledge will be checked at interview.

In class assessments.

You have the option to take the external CompTIA A+ vendor exam at additional discounted cost.

Study Methods

In class learning and independent study. You will learn in dedicated IT labs with the latest software and equipment. This course is offered at Hammersmith & Fulham College over 2 days (10 hours) for 18 weeks.
