Fee Information

Fees indicated are based on the current year (August 2016 to July 2017) and are subject to change next year.

Our further education courses (Entry to Level 3) are usually free if you are 16-18 years old. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support to help with other costs associated with your course such as course materials and travel.

If you are aged 19 or over you may be required to pay fees.

If you are enrolling onto a Level 3 or 4 course and are over 19 years of age the fees may be higher and you will be required to take out an Advanced Learning Loan, please see the guide to fees for more information.

International students will be required to pay the full International course fee.

About this course

This Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Construction is for those who seek a varied, highly valued qualification, with the practical and theoretical tools of the construction industry, to progress on to a number of high earning jobs within the sector.

Compulsory units:

  • Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction and the Built Environment

  • Sustainable Construction

  • Mathematics in Construction and the Built Environment

  • Science and Materials in Construction and the Built Environment

Other units typically include:-

  • Building Technology in Construction

  • Graphical Detailing in Construction and the Built Environment

  • Measuring, Estimating and Tendering Process in Construction and the Built Environment

  • Setting Out Process in Construct and Civil Engineering

  • Building Surveying in Construction
Entry Requirements

4-5 GCSEs grades A-C including at least C in English and Maths. Students with full Level 2 vocational qualifications with an overall Merit/Distinction and GCSE Maths (Higher) and English grade A- C will be considered. For internal candidates entry requirements may differ. All candidates require a good reference.

Assessment Method

The course is assessed through written assignments which are assessed and graded during your course as well as practical observation and written tests.

Progression Opportunities

After you have completed the course, you could progress to:

  • HNC/HND in Construction,

  • Foundation Degree in Construction related courses such as Civil Engineering, Architecture, Architectural Technologist, Construction Management, and Building Surveying,

  • Employment at technician level within the construction industry or higher level apprenticeships.
Study Methods

Our course offers unique training from industry experts which can lead to careers in areas such as architecture, land surveying, building control, civil or structural engineering and building management.

This course is predominantly classroom based with units such as Surveying in Construction taking place outside and drawing units delivered in a design classroom.
