Fees indicated are based on the current year (August 2016 to July 2017) and are subject to change next year.
Our further education courses (Entry to Level 3) are usually free if you are 16-18 years old. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support to help with other costs associated with your course such as course materials and travel.
If you are aged 19 or over you may be required to pay fees.
If you are enrolling onto a Level 3 or 4 course and are over 19 years of age the fees may be higher and you will be required to take out an Advanced Learning Loan, please see the guide to fees for more information.
International students will be required to pay the full International course fee.

This course is for candidates who work or want to work as a Bench Joiner in the construction sector. It allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Bench Joinery.
It covers the following skills:
- Set up and operate a circular saw
- Produce setting out details for bench joinery products
- Mark out from setting out details for bench joinery products
- Manufacture bench joinery products
To enrol on this course you will need: GCSE grade D or above or Functional Skills Level 1 Maths/English, in addition to Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery
Assessments for theory will be test based both with on-line tests and some paper based versions. Practical work will be assessed in time constrained tests to specified tolerances.
This qualification allows candidates to progress into employment or to the following qualifications:
- Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations (provided you have a suitable employer) OR
- Level 3 Diploma in Bench Joinery
The course is broken approximately into 75% Practical Training and 25% Theory Training. Practical training is hands on in our purpose built workshops following demonstrations and becoming proficient with a range of hand tools and woodworking machinery. Theory is generally classroom based with a range of delivery and activities to suit individual learning needs.
Learners will be given the opportunity to gain CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card and undertake work experience.
