All units are assessed on a continuous assessment basis by means of written and some practical assignments to meet set standard criteria. A couple of units are partially assessed by individual examination. Final grades for each individual unit are awarded at either Pass, Merit or Distinction. On completion of the minimum sixteen units (including all core units) your HND will be graded also as either Pass, Merit or Distinction.
An external verifier from Edexcel visits the college annually where a sample of your work is verified for accuracy of marking and quality of work.
Further Studies On completion of this course you will have three options:
use the qualification only to gain better career prospects, such as promotion;
progress further at higher education level and enrol onto a BSc (Hons) Degree in Construction Management or alternatively;
- progress onto university on a part- or full-time BSc (Hons) or BA(Hons) degree course.
You will be studying on a part-time basis for one full day per week. On this course you will complete sixteen units of study delivered over two years, for the Level 5 HND in Construction 240 credits.
Each unit has specified learning outcomes and assessment criteria. To pass an internally assessed unit, learners must meet all the assessment criteria. These assessments will take place in specialised teaching areas which maximise your personal and subject development.
You will create a portfolio of evidence based on your learning journey which will bring together your assessed work and include a photograph evidence record. This will then be internally and externally assessed.
