Fee Information

Fees indicated are based on the current academic year (2019/20) and are subject to change next year.

For students under 19

Our courses & apprenticeships are usually free if you are 18 or under on the 31st of August 2019. Some courses have additional fees for things like materials and travel, which you will need to pay at the start of your course. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support for these costs.

For students aged 19 or over

If you are aged 19 or over you may be required to pay fees. Some courses may be free, depending on your circumstances. Certain Level 3 & 4 courses require you to pay the fee in full or take out an Advanced Learning Loan to pay for your course. Please see our guide to fees for more information.

International Students

Students from outside the EU/EEA need to pay the full international fee for their course. Please note, West London College does not offer Tier 4 Visa Sponsorship for students to study in the United Kingdom.

 


About this course

This course is for you if you are planning a career in IT, Art & Design or Media.

As well as introducing the employment areas of IT, Art & Media, this course will also develop the learning skills you need to be successful at level 1 and beyond.

You will learn important skills such as being organised and working with others as well as how to use a variety of software packages and will study Functional Skills English and Mathematics.

All students will have a personal tutor who will support them throughout the course.

The study programme will include Functional Skills in English, Mathematics and study skills.

You will also be required to take part in work experience for a week, which will enable you to develop your employability skills further.

On completion of the course, you will achieve the Pearson BTEC Entry Level 3 Certificate in Vocational Studies.

Entry Requirements

This programme is designed for students with no qualification and would like to be given an opportunity to achieve a E3 qualification.

Foundation Learning Diploma at Entry Level 2 or straight from school.

Interview and BKSB assessment at E2 for English and Maths.

Applicants will either show evidence of previously completed art and design work, or will be required to satisfactorily complete a drawing task prior to enrolment.

Assessment Method

The majority of the course is assessed through coursework, a mixture of in class assignment projects and presentations with only the Functional Skills Mathematics and English being assessed through a controlled exam.

Progression Opportunities

Learners who complete this course go on to Level 1 Diploma in IT, or a Level 1 Diploma in Art, Design & Media. Progression to other subjects is also possible at this level. Each campus offers their own variety of subjects at Level 1.

Study Methods

You will learn in dedicated classrooms and Art & Media suites, using the latest software and equipment. Your assignments will combine elements of IT, Art & Design and Media Production, with separate classes for English & Maths. You will have up to 15 hours of timetabled classes each week including a group tutorial with your personal tutor, who will support and encourage you throughout the duration of the course.
