About this course

As the Internet continues to expand daily, businesses the world over are getting online in an attempt to woo the interest and attention from consumers. Even the tiniest micro-businesses have an online presence, and the better their websites are designed and developed, the easier it is for their users to purchase their goods and services. Web designers and developers are key to a successful website, and their ability to understand clients’ needs, be creative under pressure, and to produce high-quality work in the allocated time, are all essential characteristics for personal success.

The Certificate in Web Design and Development aims to harness your existing abilities and build on these characteristics to help you become an effective designer or developer. If you really love the web, and you’ve got great ideas for making the user experience more satisfying, you could use your creativity to the max to produce amazing websites that sell and convert really well. If you already work in an IT department as a technician, this course will fit you up with the skills and abilities you need to progress your career towards a more highly paid job, such as web developer.

Entry Requirements

You must be 19 or over to join this course.

You need NO formal qualifications to enrol on this Level 3 Certificate in Web Design and Development course. Not even a GCSE. However, you will need to have a passionate obsession with the Internet, an interest in how its systems and structures work, and it will help if you have some creative fire too.

However, you must be aware there are basic assessments in Maths, English, and IT, so your already existing skills in these areas will be needed.

Assessment Method

Every lesson will come with its own question paper at the end, which you will complete and submit on time to your tutor. This enables your tutor to continually monitor your progress and offer additional help and advice where needed.

Each question paper will take you around 1-2 hours to complete, and the whole course is estimated to need around 214 hours of your time in total.

Progression Opportunities

The Certificate in Web Design and Development is a course that creates opportunity, whether you already have a job in IT, or you are changing your direction in life.

Because it provides a wide range of basic information around development and design of commercial websites, you will have more options than ever on completion of this course. For example, you will be able to use it as extra credits to apply for university courses to further your education. You will also be able to immediately apply for work in the areas of development or design to progress your career straight away. There are many web design and development businesses out there that will appreciate a new and recently trained employee, so this could be your chance to change the music of your life.

One of the best things about the success of the Internet has been the explosion of freelance platforms, where self-employed web designers and developers bid for clients and win freelance work. Youre only as good as your last job, but with the Certificate in Web Design and Development, you will be extremely well set up to carry out the largest and most complex jobs with an organised and creative approach.

This course is designed to enable a wide range of options on completion, so even if you only want to test the water on a new career, it is a great choice if you are interested in web development and design.
