English and Literacy

From reading for pleasure to writing emails or helping your children with their homework, English and literacy skills are used throughout our everyday life. We offer a range of courses to help you develop the language skills you need – even if you’ve been out of education for a while.

Achieving a grade 4 at GCSE, is considered the minimum needed for many university courses, so if you are an adult (aged 19 or older) and you have not already achieved this, you can study GCSE English for free. Functional Skills courses are also available, if you’re not ready for the GCSE.

If you are aged 16-18 and do not already have GCSE English Language at grade 4 or above, it will be included in your study programme.
