For students under 19
Our courses & apprenticeships are usually free if you are 18 or under on the 31st of August 2019. Some courses have additional fees for things like materials and travel, which you will need to pay at the start of your course. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support for these costs.
For students aged 19 or over
If you are aged 19 or over you may be required to pay fees. Some courses may be free, depending on your circumstances. Certain Level 3 & 4 courses require you to pay the fee in full or take out an Advanced Learning Loan to pay for your course. Please see our guide to fees for more information.
Students from outside the EU/EEA need to pay the full international fee for their course. Please note, West London College does not offer Tier 4 Visa Sponsorship for students to study in the United Kingdom.
The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills as a beauty therapist to a high level of occupational ability to enable you to provide beauty therapy treatments. The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Treatments is a technical level qualification designed to develop your practical beauty therapy skills such as; face and body electrotherapy and body massage. Within the qualification, you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety, client care and communication, anatomy and physiology, and underpinning knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification.
You will study units such as:
- Health and safety practice in the salon
- Client care and Consultation
- Body Analysis
- Swedish Massage Therapy
- Facial electrotherapy treatments
- Body electrotherapy treatments
- Electrical Science
- Mechanical Massage
- Anatomy and Physiology for the face and Body
You will need to purchase textbooks, salon uniform to wear whilst working in salon and an equipment kit to be able to carry out practical treatments. These must be purchased within the first 2 weeks of September or within 2 weeks of enrolling on the course. Uniform must be laundered, well maintained and worn in all practical lessons.
Learners will be required to practice all treatments/services on themselves and each other prior to assessment, to be able to do this learners will have to remove all of their own make-up including false eye lashes, no false nails, no jewellery during practical lessons, this is in order for everyone to gain the relevant practical experience throughout the course.
Dress Code: Nails must be well maintained, short and without nail varnish
- Make up should be natural looking
- Hair must be clean, well-cared for and tidy. If your hair is longer than shoulder length, it will need to be tied up in a bun
- Personal jewellery is not allowed during practical lessons
- Beards and mustache must be neatly groomed and trimmed (stubble is not accepted)
A recognised level 2 Qualification in Beauty Therapy Good standard of written and spoken English. 2 - 4 GCSEs grade A*- D (preferably in maths and English) or Functional skills level 2 Learners without the above minimum qualifications in English and Maths will be required to take an assessment prior to enrolment.
How will I be assessed? To be awarded this qualification, learners must successfully achieve the following assessments:
- Externally set and internally marked graded practical assessments
- Externally set and marked examinations
- Externally set and internally marked graded synoptic assessment
- Portfolio of evidence
What can I do after the course? The following progression routes are open to you: Employment into a beauty salon, health spa, cruise liners, care homes, airlines and hotel chains
Specialist qualifications in: Level 4 in Salon Management Level 4 in Holistic Therapies Advanced Beauty Therapy
The course is run over 2 days a week over 1 academic year
