Fee Information

Fees indicated are based on the current year (August 2016 to July 2017) and are subject to change next year.

Our further education courses (Entry to Level 3) are usually free if you are 16-18 years old. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support to help with other costs associated with your course such as course materials and travel.

If you are aged 19 or over you may be required to pay fees.

If you are enrolling onto a Level 3 or 4 course and are over 19 years of age the fees may be higher and you will be required to take out an Advanced Learning Loan, please see the guide to fees for more information.

International students will be required to pay the full International course fee.

About this course

The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills to an advanced level through a variety of techniques in the following units; the creative art of cutting womens hair, the artistic skill of colouring, imaginative dexterity of styling and dressing hair, and how to provide effective consultation support for colleagues.

You will study units such as:

  • Health and safety in the salon
  • Hairdressing consultation
  • Hair cutting services
  • Hair colouring services
  • Setting and dressing services
  • Blow drying and finishing services
  • Colour correction services

Additional Information You will need to purchase salon wear, equipment, textbooks and a fee towards consumables used on the course.

Entry Requirements

A recognised level 2 Qualification in Hairdressing Good standard of written and spoken English. 2 - 4 GCSEs grade A*- D (preferably in maths and English) or Functional skills level 2

Learners without the above minimum qualifications in English and Maths will be required to take an assessment prior to enrolment.

To be awarded this qualification, learners must successfully achieve the following assessments:

  • Externally set and internally marked graded practical assessments
  • Externally set and marked examinations
  • Externally set and internally marked graded synoptic assessment
  • Portfolio of evidence

The course is run over 2 days a week over 1 academic year
