Fee Information

Fees indicated are based on the current academic year (2019/20) and are subject to change next year.

For students under 19

Our courses & apprenticeships are usually free if you are 18 or under on the 31st of August 2019. Some courses have additional fees for things like materials and travel, which you will need to pay at the start of your course. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support for these costs.

For students aged 19 or over

If you are aged 19 or over you may be required to pay fees. Some courses may be free, depending on your circumstances. Certain Level 3 & 4 courses require you to pay the fee in full or take out an Advanced Learning Loan to pay for your course. Please see our guide to fees for more information.

International Students

Students from outside the EU/EEA need to pay the full international fee for their course. Please note, West London College does not offer Tier 4 Visa Sponsorship for students to study in the United Kingdom.


About this course

This course is for you, if you would like to achieve a grade C in English GCSE. Students will complete four controlled assessments, three speaking and listening assessments and one exam.

Entry Requirements

Grade D in GCSE English. All students with a grade D will be tested. Students who have not studied GCSE English will be tested also. Students who do not pass the entry test will be able to study functional skills maths or English at the appropriate level instead.

Assessment Method

Assessment includes: external exams, Controlled Assessment (for specific subjects - English and French), coursework, essays, presentations, in-class tests and independent research.

Progression Opportunities

You will have much-improved employment opportunities as this qualification provides firm evidence of your ability to communicate effectively in a number of ways. You may be able to use the qualification to progress onto a range of Level 3 courses, or to improve your chances of entering higher education. You can progress onto higher level courses or seek employment.

Achieving a high grade in GCSE English will not only develop your language skills it will also enable you to have a qualification that is looked on positively by employers.

You will learn in dedicated theory classrooms. The course can be taken in both the day and evening.
