Fee Information

Fees indicated are based on the current academic year (2018/19) and are subject to change next year.

For students under 19

Our courses & apprenticeships are usually free if you are 18 or under on the 31st of August 2019. Some courses have additional fees for things like materials and travel, which you will need to pay at the start of your course. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support for these costs.

For students aged 19 or over

If you are aged 19 or over you may be required to pay fees. Some courses may be free, depending on your circumstances. Certain Level 3 & 4 courses require you to pay the fee in full or take out an Advanced Learning Loan to pay for your course. Please see our guide to fees for more information.

International Students

Students from outside the EU/EEA need to pay the full international fee for their course. Please note, West London College does not offer Tier 4 Visa Sponsorship for students to study in the United Kingdom.


About this course

This qualification is designed for people wishing to pursue a career in the health and fitness industry. It will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to plan and deliver safe and effective gym-based sessions to a range of clients. It will also give you the qualifications required to enter the Register of Exercise Professionals at Level 2 to gain employment in a health and fitness establishment.

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are required, however, you will need a good level of communication and literacy skills. A L2 qualification in English or Literacy is preferred, however some exceptions may be made to those with L1 qualifications. In addition the course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential therefore applicants should be able to cope with the demands of the course.

Assessment Method

This course will be internally assessed via multiple choice examinations, a portfolio of evidence and practical demonstration and assessment.

Progression Opportunities

On completion of this course you will be able to progress into work as a fitness instructor or onto a Level 3 qualification in Personal Training.

Study Methods

This is a part-time programme which will be delivered on one full day per week for 18 weeks. During these sessions you will learn via a range of theory and practical lessons which will be delivered in our fully equipped classrooms, exercise studio and large on-site fitness centre. You will be required to undertake additional independent study throughout the course in order to complete various elements of your portfolio.
