Fees indicated are based on the current academic year (2018/19) and are subject to change next year.
For students under 19
Our courses & apprenticeships are usually free if you are 18 or under on the 31st of August 2019. Some courses have additional fees for things like materials and travel, which you will need to pay at the start of your course. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support for these costs.
For students aged 19 or over
If you are aged 19 or over you may be required to pay fees. Some courses may be free, depending on your circumstances. Certain Level 3 & 4 courses require you to pay the fee in full or take out an Advanced Learning Loan to pay for your course. Please see our guide to fees for more information.
Students from outside the EU/EEA need to pay the full international fee for their course. Please note, West London College does not offer Tier 4 Visa Sponsorship for students to study in the United Kingdom.
The Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Certificate is built on two core units that form the fundamental knowledge and understanding of sports. It includes an additional mandatory unit as well as a choice from nine optional specialist units, providing an opportunity to develop a broader understanding of the sports sector. It includes units such as Anatomy and Physiology for Sports Performance, Lifestyle and Well-being and Profiling Sports Performance.
You do not require qualifications but must be assessed to establish that you can complete study at the required level.
You will complete coursework, internal as well as external. You will also complete an online examination.
The Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Certificate and Extended Certificate in Sport provides the knowledge, understanding and skills for level 2 learners to progress to:
- other level 2 vocational qualifications
- level 3 vocational qualifications, such as BTEC Nationals, specifically the Pearson BTEC Level 3 in Sport (QCF) or Pearson BTEC Level 3 in Sport and Exercise Science (dependent on your grade and your English and maths qualifications)
- employment within the sports and active leisure industry such as junior roles working in the health and fitness industry. Learners who achieve the qualification at Level 1 may progress to related level 2 vocational or academic qualifications, such as BTECs or GCSEs.
The majority of the course takes place at Chelsea Football stadium. You will complete assessments and voluntary work. If you are studying English and maths this will be at our Hammersmith and Fulham College.
