Teacher Training

Do you want to develop your career as a Teacher? Our DET and PGCE courses will provide you with theoretical and practical skills to succeed in your career and develop your sector knowledge.

Successful completion of the course will allow you to apply for Qualified Teacher, Learning and Skills (QTLS) status which qualifies you to teach in secondary schools and a variety of other sectors including Further Education.

Courses are run in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University, who have been awarded “outstanding” by Ofsted for teacher training.

Who is the course for?

The course is aimed at teachers in a substantial role in a variety of sectors including FE, Adult and Community Education, trainers in the public and private sector as well as those working with 14 – 19-year-olds in a vocational setting.

Progression routes

  • Employment as a qualified teacher, once you have QTLS status
  • Increased responsibility and potential promotion within your current role
  • Further study including a BA in Education and Professional Training (for DET) and MA in Education (for PGCE)
