Reed NCFE work hub

29 March 2017

As part of our drive to make students as work ready as possible, West London’s College guarantee the opportunity for work experience for 16-19 year old students, and can more often than not organise it for students who are 19+.

Since September 2016, 860 level 1, 2 and 3 students have been placed on work experience through our Reed NCFE hub at Hammersmith & Fulham College. Reed have a fantastic reputation for staff recruitment which has been built up over many years. Their partnership with NCFE, a large qualification awarding body, offers a deep understanding of the relevance of modern qualifications in today’s job market.

As part of the process, staff from Reed NCFE run sessions in classrooms offering tips on how to write a CV, mindset qualities employers are looking for and how students can best present themselves on social media. Students are also taught how to contact an employer for the first time giving them valuable insight into the tricky first steps towards getting a job.

Next week we’ll talk about some of the benefits to employers of taking on work experience students, but for now here’s just some of the great feedback we’ve received.

Zahar Rahman, Level 2 Vehicle Maintenance

Undertook work experience at Humes Garage

“Thank you so much for introducing this young man to us. If he carries on in the same way then our hand would be forced and we would take on this chap in full time employment as he has so much potential.”

Zeenat Azeem, Level 2 Science

Undertook work experience at Vision Express

“Zeenat Attended all week, was punctual, did a really good job and staff  are very please with her. She learnt delivery role, how to prescreen customers and today will be spending time in the lab watching how the  glasses are made.”
