Earlier this month our Sport Academy students were treated to a private tour of Stamford Bridge, home of current Premier League leaders - Chelsea FC! Our students went behind the scenes to see the football pitch, dressing rooms, press room, dugouts and the club museum.
The tour was arranged through the College's recent partnership with the Chelsea FC Foundation. As well as football development programmes, the Chelsea Foundation works on a broad range of initiatives focusing on employment, education, social deprivation, crime reduction, youth offending and much more.
Matt Mead - Head of education at Chelsea FC Foundation:
"We are very excited to be working with West London College and their students, who have been a pleasure to work with. The visit to Stamford Bridge was a great day out for all involved and it provided the students with a chance to see how football as a business operates outside of the match day. As a local college to the club and the foundation, we look forward to developing this collaboration further"
Our partnership with local Premier League club Chelsea FC ranges a number of projects. One of these is a brand new Women's Football Academy which will be launching for the 17/18 season.
The other involves coaches and teachers from the Club coming into College to deliver units to our L3 BTEC learners. Chelsea FC are delivering our Analysis of Performance and Performance Profiling units using their experience and expertise working with one of the top clubs in the country to bring the modules to life. This includes perks such as the private stadium tour and watching real life games to analyse for assessments.
