Two of our young apprentices have been Highly Commended at the West London Business Awards held at Wembley Stadium last night. The annual awards are run by West London Business and sponsored by Ealing, Hammersmith and West London’s College who also presented an award on the night.
The awards showcase the best west London businesses have to offer, with categories covering sector leaders, sustainable and responsible business and economic growth. This year, West London’s College had two finalists in the Apprentice of the Year Category, and while the prize didn't go our way this time, both were highly commended and thoroughly deserve to have their work showcased.
Louie Maggioni, Apprentice Carpenter, James J. Hutchinson Building Solutions
Louie loves working with his hands and being active, and has been a standout both on the jobsite and during his College courses. He is also already helping to expand the pool of skilled workers in West London - three of his friends have started courses with the aim of becoming apprentices on his recommendation.
“Louie is doing a wonderful job with his apprenticeship. He is very hardworking and definitely has the talent to make it as a carpenter”.
Alex Achilleos, Apprentice Chef, Aqua Shard Restaurant
Alex was nominated for her high levels of commitment and work ethic she brings to her apprenticeship. Her preparation work has been described as ‘outstanding’, with her ability to maintain her high standards over long and challenging shifts being especially noted.
“Alex has a great attitude and has got her head down and worked well with no fuss. She is presentable, has excellent timekeeping and a high level of commitment to the role.”
