Inclusive Learning Sports Pathway Students from Southall collecting for the homeless

inclusive homless help

A fantastic well done to our Southall Inclusive Learning Sports Pathway students who helped collect items for the homeless in London.

Three weeks prior to Christmas our students began their collection by creating posters and flyers with the aim of getting staff and students to donate items. Items were donated generously and ranged from hats, scarves, gloves and socks. Once sorted into relevant piles and counted, the students bagged up the items.

On the 8 January 2016, our students then visited the SWAT Team in London to deliver the items that had been collected. They were greeted by Randeep who is one of the founders of SWAT in Hayes who forms part of the team that helps feed and clothe the homeless in London amongst other places. They were then shown around the warehouse, given a brief history of how and why the charity was set up and an insight into what goes into feeding upwards of 1000 homeless people a week, by volunteers.

Current student Ellie Redman said, "I really enjoyed this project and would do it again. I think everyone should do something to help the homeless".

We would like to thank everyone that donated and assure you that your kindness was greatly appreciated by both the students and the S.W.A.T Team. Please take a look at the website and their Facebook page as they are always looking for donations and volunteers.
