At West London College, we guarantee work experience for all students aged between 16 and 19 through our partnership with REED NCFE. This September, 17 year old Isra Shah will start an apprenticeship as a receptionist at the Bayswater Inn Hotel after completing work experience there.
Isra came to West London College to learn employability and skills training with REED NCFE after struggling with shyness and finding interviews and customer service difficult. Throughout her training, she built up her confidence in these areas before securing work experience at the hotel.
’’Isra attended every day, was punctual and got along very well with members of staff and guests of the hotel" says David Gesto, General Manager of the Bayswater Inn Hotel.
"I was very happy with her performance and am excited to be working with her for the duration of her apprenticeship’’
Isra is a great example of how a business can bring in talent by working with local education providers to offer work experience to young people.
‘’I would like to thank REED NCFE and the help of West London College" says Isra.
"I feel more independent, and learned and developed new skills while working in the Hotel’’.
Isra hopes to stay on at the Hotel and go into Hotel Management when she finishes the apprenticeship.
