TEF Silver final2

Wednesday 6 June 2018

West London College has been given a ‘Silver’ ranking in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), which was published on Wednesday 6 June 2018.

The TEF panel recognised many aspects of our excellent teaching and learning provision for Higher Education, including the excellent outcomes achieved by our students and the exceptional employability of our alumni.

The Panel judgement reflects, in particular, evidence of:

  • Course design and assessment practices that provide high levels of stretch to ensure most students make progress, and acquire knowledge, skills and understanding valued highly by employers
  • Appropriate levels of contact time, including personalised provision, that secure high levels of engagement and commitment to learning and study from students
  • High quality physical and digital resources used by students to further learning
  • An institutional culture that facilitates excellent teaching that has been introduced at the provider.

The TEF is one of a number of reviews of Higher Education teaching. A wide range of established complementary rankings, reviews, metrics and outcomes demonstrate the excellence of teaching at West London College. Our recent performance in the National Achievement Rate Tables (NART) was also published in the last few weeks, where we secured first position in the table for both Overall Achievement Rate and Adult Achievement Rate.

Garry Phillips, CEO at West London College, said:

"We would like to thank the panel for their comments, which recognise many aspects of our outstanding teaching provision.

"Our Silver TEF award continues to demonstrate how we are one of the strongest institutions in the country for important areas that our students care about, such as teaching quality, academic outcomes and the employability of our graduates. We will continue to develop this through our Mission, Vision and Values to further enhance teaching and our students’ experience."
