Spelling Bee final

31 May 2017

Our College-wide Spelling Bee came to an exciting conclusion on Wednesday with four top students duking it out to be crowned the best speller at West London's College.

The overall winner of the competition was 16yo Key Stage 4 student Jules Rodriguez from Southall Community College who is now the proud new owner of a new Google Chromebook.

Jules spelt an amazing ten out of ten words correctly, winning the competition with the word 'conscientious'. On top of that, he did so over a Google Hangouts video chat because of a tight exam schedule on the day.

Also in the final were Zeenat Azeem (Applied Science), Addeline Clarke (Access to HE) and Kopiyu Sansanjeevan, (Childcare) who each won £50 Amazon vouchers for winning their heats. Each competitor performed strongly in front of a big crowd, but ultimately Jules could not be topped.

"It was a good experience." says Jules. "Having to compete over Hangouts felt different, but  having competed in Spelling Bees in the past, I was confident."

"Everyone involved was supportive and the event was fun".
