Student Services offer friendly constructive information, advice and guidance to help you enjoy learning, stay on course and reach your potential during your time at college and in the future.
The Student Support team offers the following services:
Support, Information, Advice and Guidance
We offer one-to-one support and guidance to help students get the most out of their time at College; techniques for increased motivation or stress management, support with organisation or managing workload, assist with benefit queries, connect you to a breadth of partner organisations to support with sexual health, homelessness, improving your general health and mental health and wellbeing and more.
Our Student advisors offer specialist support which may require a confidential space. They are trained and experienced to listen and help you to discuss anything that is worrying you, causing anxiety or affecting your ability to study, no matter how big or small. If you have any concerns or worries whilst in College, do not hesitate to drop in and see us. If you need to talk, we will listen.
We have a partnership with MIND and other local organisations regarding Mental Health and Wellbeing. Out dedicated advisor may be able to support you accessing services both in and outside College, managing symptoms and recommending techniques and strategies to stay healthy at College.
Support for Young People in Care or Recent Care Leavers
Being a student brings new or different life challenges. We have a dedicated service and advisor for students who are living in care of have recently left care, offering some one-to-one support while you are at College such as guidance around finance, updating your Social Worker or signposting to support.
Student Support Funds
We have a variety of student support funds available for students to help you get to college, buy essential items for your course or support your childcare requirements.
Some of the funds can only be claimed by students in receipt of 19+ Loan or HE funding from Student Finance England.
We also have a Hardship Fund to support students who may have experienced an unexpected change in circumstances during the academic year that has led them to financial hardship.

We believe in providing you with a supportive and encouraging learning environment. All students have a personal tutor who is there to provide you with all the advice and support that you need to succeed at College and achieve your best.
Careers Advice and Employability Skills
The College Careers team offer independant and impartial advice to students. They can support you you various ways in your progression through College and beyond.
The Careers team can support you in many ways, including how to research different career options, how to apply for college or university and where to look for job opportunities. The advisors can also support you to find information on apprenticeships, training programmes, employment, university/college open days.
They can also strengthen your employability skills help you to prepare your CV, complete job/college/university applications and further improve your interview techniques.
We also have Advisers from partner organisations that are also available, during set times and by appointment, to offer individual guidance or information on volunteering and jobs.
The Protection of Children & Vulnerable Adults
The College recognises that members of staff and students have a valuable part to play in safeguarding the welfare of children under 18 and vulnerable adults attending study programmes or College events.
College staff worked in consultation with Social Services and other agencies to produce a policy and procedures for the protection of children and vulnerable adults. For an informal discussion about any concerns you may have, you can contact the Safeguarding Officers at any of the College sites. If you would like to find out more about protection issues, the Senior Safeguarding Officer for the College is the Executive Director of Student Experience and Performance.
