Our HND and HNC students got to celebrate all of their hard work and high achievement at our annual Higher Education Graduation Ceremony at Olympia London.
It was a moment to savour for the students and their friends and family who got to see the culmination of all of their efforts across the last academic year.
The presentations were highlighted by an inspirational speech from Kim Dero, Chief Executive of Hammersmith & Fulham Council, who impressed upon the graduates the importance of continuing their hard work and always striving to go as far as they can.
Andy Slaughter, MP for Hammersmith & Fulham, was at the graduation to personally congratulate the graduates.
“I’m delighted to be here. The event was inspiring and the speech from Kim Dero was brilliant, telling graduates just what they can achieve. It was the best message for them to take home”.
We were also very excited once again to have Andy Gillman present the Ministry of Defence Award to HND Business Management student Umu Barrie, who completed her HND programme while working part-time and looking after a young child.
Her tutor, Zara Bokhari, said: “Umu is a disciplined student, who always strives to achieve her best. She has a mature outlook which with her organisational skills puts her in good stead for the final year programme at university. All her teachers find her a pleasure to teach; and she will no doubt fit into university life very easily. She has managed to complete her studies whilst looking after a young child and working at the same time- she has a positive outlook and is striving to achieve her goals.”
Umu was incredibly touched to receive the award and now has several options for more Higher Education or moving into employment in the HR field.
“The course was challenging with tight deadlines while I looked after my young child, so it means a lot to achieve something like this. I worked very hard and worked long hours, but I was still shocked to receive it!”
