#ConstructLondon – London’s First Virtual Construction Careers Event

West London College has partnered with the National Careers Service (London) (NCS) and the Mayor’s Construction Academy to launch the first-ever virtual construction careers event for London. #ConstructLondon, is aimed at anyone with an interest in the exciting opportunities offered by construction in London – including students, school leavers, jobseekers, employers and careers advisers.

The Careers Event takes place on social media on Wednesday, 15 July 2020, from 11am to 3pm. To take part, simply login to Twitter or Facebook and search for #ConstructLondon. You do not need to register to take part. Employers, colleges, local authorities, career advisers and anyone involved with construction are encouraged to get involved by posting their jobs, apprenticeship vacancies, training courses and other opportunities using #ConstructLondon.

#ConstructLondon has been designed to promote job vacancies and the training opportunities that have emerged post-lockdown and provides an opportunity to discover the vast range of training, progression pathways and jobs available in London.

Hundreds of jobs, apprenticeships and training opportunities will be promoted as a series of rolling posts over the four hours of the Careers Event from 11am to 3pm.

If you are interested in or already working in trades such as brickwork, carpentry and joinery, plastering, kitchen-fitting, dry lining, scaffolding, electrical installation, plumbing, site management, project management, and so much more – this event is definitely for you!

David Warnes, Deputy Principal of West London College said: “#ConstructLondon presents an opportunity to put construction and its amazing career opportunities firmly on the map. I look forward to seeing the construction community coming together to support the event and seeing #ConstructLondon trending on Social Media. At West London College we will use the event to promote our many high-quality construction apprenticeship and training opportunities so we can play our part in building the future of construction in London.”

Greater London Authority Deputy Mayor for Planning, Regeneration and Skills, Jules Pipe, said: “Now more than ever, the construction industry has a critical role to play in the Capital as we emerge from lockdown and the economy begins to recover, so we’re pleased to support #ConstructLondon through the Mayor’s Construction Academy. This event is a chance to promote the range and scale of roles available to Londoners in this dynamic industry – many of which will help deliver the homes Londoners urgently need.”
