The London Construction sector is booming - Want to become a high level Bricklayer?
This advanced Bricklaying qualification is aimed at those individuals who work or want to work as a Site Bricklayer in the construction sector. At this level, you will learn advanced skills in site bricklaying. The qualification has been devised to provide learners with a fantastic understanding of all aspects of bricklaying; a very in depth course to have you industry ready and competent across a range of skills. This training course enables you to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Bricklaying. The training and qualification covers Interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures, producing thin joint masonry and masonry cladding, building solid walling, isolated and attached piers and constructing cavity walling forming masonry structures.
You will learn a variety of Bricklaying skills; the full qualification consists of the following units:
- Health, safety and welfare in Construction
- Repair and maintain masonry structures:
- Constructing radial and battered brickwork:
- Principles of organising, planning and pricing construction work:
- Carrying out decorative and reinforced brickwork:
- Constructing fireplaces and chimneys:
This is a very in depth course and the knowledge and skills that you will gain from this course will put you in a fantastic position when it comes to sourcing bricklaying work/employment.
You will need:
- a Bricklaying Level 2 qualification
- Functional Skills Level 2 or above in English and maths
- a real desire and enthusiasm to learn a trade within the construction industry.
You will need to meet the course criteria with both practical and basic knowledge requirements. There are continuous practical assessments, a number of unit assessments and an end of year online exam.
Successful completion of this course could lead to attending a Construction Supervisor course or an HND in Built Environment & Construction.
This is a practical based course with most of the time spent learning your skills within the workshop along with elements in the classroom.
If you will be aged 16 to 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your studies and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course will be free.
