ABOUT THIS COURSE

Our L3 Award for Solar PV Installer and Operator (NOCN) programme includes bespoke on-line teaching materials from Pike Education. The course will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to become competent in this new and increasing commercial and domestic market.

You will learn how to install and commission Solar PV and be able to carry out repairs and maintenance.

To understand types of operation and mantenance and the requirements of reporting and documentation.

Learning outcomes include:

  • fundamental concerpts,
  • carrying out pre-instalation site visits,
  • practical installation of small-scale solar pV systems,
  • requirements and procedures of pre-commissioning tests and
  • the offical handover of solar PV system to end user.

The objective of this qualification is for learners to demonstrate they are competent in accordance with legislation, regulations, and industry standards.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need:

  • A full Level 3 Elecrical qualification
  • Evidence of recent CPD and work experience

Achievement of the 18th Edition is desirable, but can be gained alongside this qualification.

You will also have an interview with our course tutors at enrolment, so we can ensure the course is right for you.

ASSESSMENT METHOD

Your assessments are designed to match what you've learned. All your work will be marked by your tutors, giving you a chance to show off your skills in real-world situations.

You'll build a portfolio of your coursework, showcasing your progress throughout the course. Plus, you'll get hands-on experience through practical assignments and receive feedback from your tutors. There will also be an external end-of-course exam.
 

PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES

With this Level 3 qualification, you are well positioned for a variety of career progression opportunities in the renewable energy sector.

You could also explore higher-level electrical and engineering qualifications, including those that support wider Green Skills initiatives.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

This is a classroom-based course that includes both theory and practical tasks, as well as home study assignments.



You will take part in classroom sessions where you will learn about new requirements and legislation.

There will be opportunities to discuss the topics with your course tutor and peers, and you will receive full support to help you pass the end-of-course examination.



Additionally, you will be offered an independent careers assessment, learn about other green skills qualifications, and receive a preferential rate for enrolling in any new course with WLC.

Adult Students (19+)

If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August before your course starts, are resident in London, and have the legal right to stay in the UK for at least 12 months, you may be eligible to study for free, depending on your circumstances and chosen course. For more information, please click here.
